3d Printing arrives at Inoplas

We have been having lots of fun this week exploring the capabilities of our new 3d printing equipment. We can now print solid parts in ABS directly from Solidworks or other 3d CAD files and can create rapid prototypes in sizes up to a 10cm cube in a matter of minutes; admittedly quite a lot of minutes for bigger and more complex parts. The resolution and accuracy of this amazing technology has astounded the cynics and we have created a cabinet full of intricate shapes with tolerances as fine as 0.2mm. We are fans of high quality injection moulding and before the machine got here we didn’t know if we’d love it or hate it. We do now.

After a bit of further calibration we hope to be able to offer 3d printing as a commercial service to enable customers to see ‘real’ rapid samples as part of the design and development process. We will keep you posted but in the meantime, if you have any questions or have a drawing for a part which you just can’t wait to see then please get in touch.
